Lyrebirds are two extant Australian species in the genus Menura. The superb lyrebird (Menura novaehollandiae) was named by John Latham in 1801; Thomas Davies described it as Menura superba in 1800. Albert’s lyrebird is restricted to southern Queensland rainforest.
