What the species is and where it came from
The Andes is not a species. It is a habitat — an orogenic belt, part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, spanning seven countries: Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia and Venezuela.

The Andes work as a continuous highland barrier stretching 8,900 km along South America’s western edge — a tectonic spine formed by Nazca Plate subduction beneath the South American Plate.
