Pitcher plants lure insects with nectar. Prey slip on waxy inner walls or slippery peristomes. They drown in digestive liquid inside modified leaves.

It gets nutrient acquisition right in mineral-poor soils. It gets convergence right: Nepenthaceae, Sarraceniaceae, Cephalotaceae, and some Bromeliaceae all evolved pitfall traps separately.
