Rafflesia is a genus of parasitic flowering plants in the family Rafflesiaceae. It evolved in Southeast Asia. All up to 41 known species occur only there: the Malay Peninsula, Greater Sunda Islands (Sumatra, Java, Borneo), and the Philippine Archipelago.
How it works, in terms someone would actually use
Rafflesia is a holoparasite. It lives entirely inside Tetrastigma vines. It has no stems, leaves or roots. Only its five-petalled flower emerges. The flower emits a rotting-flesh odour to lure carrion flies for pollination.
